Our Office Now Accepts CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan): Enhancing Access to Quality Dental Care

CDCP Downtown Toronto

We are thrilled to announce that our dental office is now accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) as part of our mission to provide affordable and high-quality dental care to all our patients. The CDCP is a government initiative aimed at making dental care more accessible to Canadians, and we are proud to be part of this effort. Here’s what you need to know about CDCP and how it can benefit you and your family.

What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a national program designed to improve access to dental care for low- to middle-income families across Canada. The plan covers a wide range of dental services, ensuring that more Canadians can receive the oral care they need without the financial burden. This plan is especially beneficial for families who may have previously avoided dental care due to cost concerns.

What Does CDCP Cover?

The CDCP provides coverage for various essential dental services, including:

  • Routine Check-ups and Cleanings: Regular dental exams and cleanings to maintain oral health and prevent issues like cavities and gum disease.

  • X-rays: Diagnostic imaging to detect underlying dental issues that may not be visible during a routine exam.

  • Fillings: Treatment for cavities and tooth decay, ensuring your teeth remain strong and healthy.

  • Extractions: Removal of teeth that are damaged, decayed, or causing crowding.

  • Root Canals: Treatment for infected or damaged teeth to save them from extraction.

  • Crowns and Bridges: Restorative procedures to repair and replace damaged or missing teeth.

  • Dentures: Partial or complete dentures for those who have lost multiple teeth.

  • Preventive Care: Fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive measures to protect your teeth and gums.

To find out more detailed information on what is covered please visit the CDCP Benefits Guide.

How much is Covered?

The CDCP will reimburse a portion of the cost of your treatment, but it may not pay the full amount. You will have to pay additional charges directly to your dental office, if:

  • your adjusted family net income is between $70,000 and $89,999

  • the cost of your oral health care services are more than what the CDCP will reimburse for these services, or

  • you and your oral health provider agree to services that the CDCP doesn’t cover

Do I have Co-Payments?

There are differences in pricing between the ODA Ontario Fee Guide and the CDCP Fee Guide. You’ll be responsible for the ODA Ontario Fee Guide Cost - the CDCP Fee Guide Cost.

For example, if a procedure X cost $120 on the ODA Ontario Fee Guide but is $100 on the CDCP Fee Guide, covered at 80% from the CDCP Benefits then your cost would be $40:

  • 80% of $100 = $80

  • $120 - $80 = $40
